The Carnival of Cádiz is one of the most famous and important Carnival celebrations in our country. Recognized as a Festival of International Tourist Interest, its history dates back to the 15th century, with several traditions that have remained the same over the years, as well as some that have evolved. Although Cádiz is not exactly next to Barcelona, the people at ANDACAT, the cultural foundation in Catalonia dedicated to the promotion of Andalusian culture in our city, do not want anyone to miss this festival, and that is why they are organising the third edition of the Carnival of Cádiz in Barcelona. This initiative is completely open to everyone and is intended to show the popular side of this celebration, which gathers its forces from the street with absolute respect for both traditional and popular culture, regardless of its origins. On March 31st, come to the Port de Barcelona with some rouge on your cheeks at 11am and ready to enjoy the most colourful and lively party of the year, and then head on to the Gran Teatre del Liceu at 6pm to live four hours of the best coplas arrived straight from Cádiz.

The kick-off of the event will happen at 11am, with the reception of the different groups from Cadiz that will be in charge of animating the morning with their performances at the Moll de la Fusta. From there, the delegation will move through different parts of the old quarter of Barcelona such as the Museo Marítimo, the Pati Manning or the Patio de la Iglesia de Santa Ana, where a few local groups will also perform. The Andalusian groups will also perform at 6pm in the Gran Teatre del Liceu in a show that already promises to be an unmatchable musical and emotional experience.

The Cádiz groups invited to participate are Las Niñas de Cádiz, an exclusively female group linked to theatre and television that has been participating in the Carnaval Callejero de Cádiz for more than 20 years, becoming the main speakers of that Carnival in 2018; Los Guatifó, a reference among street groups thanks to its high level of wit and music, formed by members from mythical chirigotas linked to the Carnival since forever, and Los del Perchero, who since 2004 have not missed their date with the Carnival, and whose popularity made possible their 2012 tour. In addition to them, four groups from Barcelona and surroundings will put the finishing touch to this magical morning: the Comparsa de Barcelona "Los Marea", the Chirigota Plaza Macael "Con  Faldas y a lo Low Cost", the Comparsa de Cerdanyola “La Sombra", and the Comparsa de Mataró "Cenizas".

If your body is asking you for party and fun, you cannot miss this occasion to celebrate the Cadiz Carnival in the city of Barcelona. Remember: the ANDACAT foundation awaits you at the Port de Barcelona on March 31st to give everything you have in a morning of culture and celebration, and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu at 6pm for a music show that you must experience.
