Since its first edition in 2013, the R&D branch of the well-known Sónar music festival brings together in the city of Barcelona the most brilliant minds on the planet to explore the impact that creativity can have on our present and our future through a programme focused entirely on inspiration and networking, and this year was not going to be any less. From July 17th to July 20th, simultaneously to Sónar de Día, the Fira de Montjuïc will host Sónar+D, with an estimated participation of 20,000 attendees and 5,000 professionals divided in two different experiences: the Sónar+D Innovation Challenge, aimed towards companies, and that of the Sónar+D exhibition area, aimed at the artistic and technological communities.
In this, its seventh edition, the main themes that will be discussed will be the design of experiences as the creative language par excellence of our time, the most recent technological innovations in the music and sound industry, and artificial intelligence as a tool for artistic creation. In addition, the offer of workshops and lectures given during the congress will be doubled in number, to allow up to 1000 people to learn about the future of artistic experiences from 180 recognised experts and leading companies in experiential innovation around of the world.
The first confirmed guests for this incredible congress are teamLab, the most influential interdisciplinary digital immersive technology studio in the world of digital creation; Japanese Daito Manabe and Yukiyasu Kamitani, presenting their research about visualising our thoughts; Holly Herndon, who will present her artificial intelligence experiment Spawn, and CANADA, the acclaimed creative studio behind the videoclips of world-famous stars such as Rosalia or Bad Gyal. In addition, Sónar+D will feature several tech shows starring the relationship between brain and music, artificial intelligence, and the dialogue between light and sound.
