Sónar celebrates 25 years and celebrates by sending music out of the solar system

Sónar celebrates a quarter of a century of life and celebrates it with a stratospheric edition, literally. This year will become the first festival in history to be celebrated beyond planet Earth by sending the 'Sónar Calling', a direct message to one of the planets outside the solar system with more possibilities of having extraterrestrial life, the planet GJ273b , from the star Luyten, which is 12.4 light years from Earth.

This call has musical pieces by artists such as Jean Michel Jarre, Laurent Garnier, J Nina Kravitz or Autechre, who will be sent to this planet and who could arrive in 2030. In this way, Sónar wants to explain with music who we are humans and assumes the possibility that extraterrestrial receivers can decipher it and respond to them.

A total of 33 artists with ten-second compositions that have already been sent have participated in this call. If there were a response, which would take at least twelve more years, it could coincide with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the festival
